The first airport to serve the city of Bristol began life as a farmers field and was the third airport created in the UK. Bristol Lulsgate Airport was developed a few years later and this replaced the old airport as the main point to fly from Bristol. The name was changed a few years after that to become Bristol International Airport where flights today depart to destinations all over the world. Larnaca International Airport is Cyprus’s main international airport. Originally the British Armed Forces used the airport. It has two large terminals and a larger building at the rear for arrivals, which was expanded in February 2006. Cyprus is a major tourist destination and sees around 5 million people a year pass through the airport, but as the airport wasn’t designed for the capacity it is being further developed which should be finished by 2009.
